On a bitterly cold October morning in 1962, chart-topping Motown artists including Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Smoky Robinson and the Miracles, The Supremes, The Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas and The Four Tops boarded a decrepit-looking bus with ‘Motor City Tour' painted on its side, for a historic tour called THE MOTORTOWN REVUE. The bus would be their home for the next few months as they toured the United States, playing to mixed audiences in the ‘Chitlin’ Circuit’ in the east, dealing with racial violence and police-enforced segregation audiences in the Deep South. Those shows transcended all barriers and changed the course of history. This is the story of that tour, this journey, the story of all these incredible artists on one bus, in a complicated moment in America. For the artists on the bus and the audiences, their lives would never be the same.
